  Auditons

Abilene Ballet Theatre holds open auditions in September for our performing season, traditionally the first Saturday after Labor Day. Our performing season consists of The Nutcracker, The Sugar Plum Fairy Tea, and our Spring Showcase. Auditions are divided by age groups: Junior levels typically ages 9-11 and Senior levels typically ages 12 and up. Be prepared for your audition: - Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the audition time in order to complete the necessary paperwork, warm up, and make any other final preparations. - All dancers must wear a leotard (color according to your level, see dress code here) and tights with pink ballet shoes. No skirts please. If you are not a Ballet Abilene student and you are auditioning, a black leotard and pink tights is perfectly fine. - All dancers' hair should be neatly fixed in a bun and hair out of the face. - No jewelry shall be worn (including smart watches) other than small stud earrings. - Dancers who have completed a year or more en pointe will need to bring their shoes into the audition room and will be used in the latter portion of the audition. (This applies only to the ages 12 & up (Senior I & II) Audition.) - Parents are not allowed in our lobby. Your dancer will complete his/her form on their own after entering the studio. - The audition will be approximately an hour and a half. - If there are any known conflicts with future rehearsals or performances, those need to be stated on the audition form - please have these ready at the time of the audition. - Try to relax and enjoy the audition - we are excited to have a great performance season with our talented dancers!
